Enjoy your plane ride to Abu Simbel. Our representative will pick you up at your hotel in Aswan and take you to Abu Simbel, where the Great Temple of the Sun of Ramses II and the Temple of Queen Nefertari are the most popular places to visit. Both temples were completely buried in sand when they were found in 1813. Then, in 1960, with help from the Egyptian government and UNESCO, both temples were moved to keep them out of the way of the rising Nile. Ramses II built the temple mostly to honour himself. Inside, there is a fresco of his famous victory at the Battle of Kadesh, where his army beat their enemies. The Temple of Nefertari is to the north of the Ramses Temple. Ramses II built it for Queen Nefertari, who was his favourite wife out of his 200 other wives and concubines. After your visit, you'll go back to Aswan, where you'll be taken back to your hotel.
