Your tour guide will pick you up at your hotel in Aswan and take you to where your boat is waiting on the Nile. Take your boat across the Nile to the high cliffs north of Kitchener's Island, across from Aswan. From the boat landing, a flight of stairs hangs down the hill to the graves. Most of the tombs of ancient Egyptian nobles in Aswan are from the Ancient, Middle and New Kingdoms. It has a simple design, with an entrance hall, a colonnaded room, and a portico leading to the burial chamber. The tombs contain important and colorful frescoes that show scenes from the daily lives of the officials. There are biographies and hieroglyphs on the tombs that show how the nobility reached Africa. At the top of the hill, above the tombs of the nobles, is the "Qubbat al-Hawa" which means "the Dome of the Wind" and is the mausoleum of a local sheikh and holy man. When you reach the top, you can witness amazing views of Aswan, the Nile and the land around it. When you are done, return to your hotel in Aswan or your Nile cruise.
