Obelisks were used by the ancient Egyptians as wayfinding devices to guide them to the entrances of buildings and temples. Rocks found along the Nile were used to chisel red granite, which was then shipped to Cairo and Alexandria in Egypt.

The hotel is located within 7 minutes of the heart of Aswan and within 1 hour of Cairo. It takes three hours to go from the hotel to Luxor.
History:
The endeavor was disrupted by an imperfection in the stone. The completed obelisk stood at a height of 42 meters and had a mass of 1168 tonnes. Some experts believe that this structure was intended to be the largest obelisk in the world and that it was supposed to stand beside the Lateran Obelisk in Rome. The Lateran Obelisk was built outside of Tuthmosis III’s Karnak Temple.
Scientists are able to rebuild historic quarries by using chisel marks and equipment that has been abandoned. Fissures were separated using wooden wedges, and quartz slurry was worn down using mechanical means. Dolphins and ostriches, among other animals, were sometimes painted on the walls of mines so that people could observe them as they moved through the mines.
Notes:
When they left Egypt, there were fewer obelisks in existence than there are now. Several national administrations have been responsible for their acquisition and distribution around the globe. They are located in New York City, Rome, Paris, London, Istanbul, and Israel respectively (8 in total left in Egypt).
