
It is possible that Coptic Cairo, a suburb of Old Cairo established in the 10th century, was one of the early Christian communities in central Egypt. Some people think that it occurred earlier. “Copt” refers to Egyptian Christians who integrated Christian doctrines and practices into their traditions.

The Saint George’s Church may be found in the Coptic Old Cairo neighborhood. The downtown area of Cairo may be reached in half an hour.

History:
As governor-general of Egypt, Ibn Marwan was responsible for constructing the first Greek Orthodox Church of Saint George. Under the leadership of Ibn Marwan, Athanasius constructed the church. Al-Maqrizi a discussion on this topic in his book History of the Coptic Patriarchs.
A fire in the middle of the 20th century completely gutted the church. In later years, it underwent reconstruction, but the domes were removed. The Nuptial Hall, also known as Qa’at Al-Irsan, is a palace that dates back to the 13th or 14th century and is of marginal significance architecturally. It measures 15 meters by 12 meters.
The four pillars that support the existing church building are not important architecturally. The Mameluke Period saw the creation of this hall’s intricate tracery and decorations.
