Your hotel will pick us up to start a half-day tour to the Luxor Museum and the Mummification Museum. Visit the Luxor Museum, which is in the Egyptian city of Luxor, to start your day (Old Thebes). The museum opened in 1975 and is in a small building that was made just for it. The number of artefacts on display is much smaller than the collection of the country's most important artefacts at the Museum of Antiquities in Cairo. This was done on purpose, as the museum is proud of the quality of the pieces, the confusing way they are displayed, and the clear, multilingual signs. Then go to Luxor, Egypt, to the Mummification Museum. It is north of the Luxor Temple, on the Corniche, in front of the Mina Palace Hotel, and looks out over the Nile River. The goal of the museum is to teach people about the ancient art of mummification. The ancient Egyptians used mummification on more than just dead animals. Later, you'll be taken back to your Luxor hotel.
